Pipe Burst During Extreme Cold Temperatures
This loss occurred in a blistering cold January storm of 2014 in Broadway, Virginia. The extreme temperatures lead to a pipe freezing and bursting in a wall which caused flooding in a basement. Drywall had to be removed to enable the insulation to be removed, and to allow the structure to dry. The process of floating the carpet after the padding was removed, as shown above, was used to expedite drying.
