Water Damage from Pipes Bursting

This home in Churchville had two pipes that burst in the bathroom walls causing wide spread
water damage to the entire home. As seen in the pictures of their staircase before the
remediation, the drywall was showing signs of “bubbling” which is what it will do when wet. In
the second picture the drywall has been removed. This process is what the standard of care is
according to the IICRC for a structure to dry. If these procedures are not followed and the
drywall is not removed it becomes a vapor barrier and the insulation and framing behind the
drywall that is wet will begin to mold. At this point drying equipment can be set until the
framing is dry, and then the reconstruction process can begin. If water damage impacts your
home or commercial facility, please call our crew at SERVPRO of Harrisonburg/Rockingham
County at (540) 433-6100. We proudly offer 24-hour emergency service, and we are equipped to
deal with any size disaster.
