Water Heater -Water Damage

Water Heaters can cause a water damage in several different ways from a slow leak to a burst pipe. A slow leak can develop and go unnoticed for days before the damage is found. If the water heater is located on any floor besides the bottom floor or basement of your home, the damage can be extensive. When a slow leak happens, the water can seep through the walls, flooring and even the ceiling of the rooms below. Sometimes the leak is found when the ceiling below shows water stains or collapses.
It is a good idea to inspect your water heater on a regular basis in addition to flushing it out twice a year.
If/when you notice that a puddle of water under your water heater, the water doesn’t get as hot as it used to, it is making popping or cracking sounds, and if you see any rust in the water when using the hot water, you should contact a plumber for assistance.
