People think about preparing their homes for winter weather but may forget about getting their vehicle ready for winter driving.
You should prepare your car for winter weather:
- Have a mechanic check your fluid levels, battery, wipers, heater, and defroster.
- Make sure there is enough tread on your tires and if check to see if chains or studs are needed.
- Keep your gas tank full in case of emergencies, this will also help keep gas lines from freezing.
- Keep an emergency supply kit in your vehicle, include jumper cables, ice scraper, blanket, cell phone charger, cat litter (to aid in traction if you get stuck), flashlight, flares, and a first aid kit.
- Keep an emergency bag supplied with water, snacks, and extra batteries to grab when leaving when weather is bad in case of getting stuck in snow or ice.
